Review: This is a great transfer device, works with both laptop hard drives and desktop. Please be aware though, if you are going to connect it to let's say a 250 gigabyte disk drive, then to receiver PC, you are going to need extra power and this device does not come with the 12 volt power. It needs extra power to spin the drive, the USB 3 is not powerful enough alone, but once your computer recognizes it it comes up as a separate drive and it works great. Please have your 12 volt power cable ready. It does not come in the kit
